Hausa Prepositions

This is a list of prepositions in Hausa. This includes words related to positions (i.e. under, on top of ...), conjunctions (and, but ...) and many more.

On top of: a Bisa
Under: a ƙarƙashi
Inside: ciki
Outside: waje
Behind: bayan
In front of: a gaban
Near: kusa da
Between: tsakanin

These are more popular prepositions you might find useful at some point or another.

After: bayan
Before: kafin
With: da
Without: ba tare da
Since: tun
Until: har
From: daga
To: ga
Instead of: a maimakon
In: ciki
As: kamar
About: a
For: don

The following are conjunctions used to connect words, sentences, or phrases.

And: da
But: amma
So: sabo da haka

Now is the time for some prepositions used in a sentence. We are using the following: (from, under, inside, with, in, but) as examples.

I'm from Japan: Ni daga Japan na ke
The pen is under the desk: Pensiri ya na ƙarƙashir tebur
The letter is inside the book: Wasiƙar tana cikin littafin
Can I practice Italian with you?: Zan iya jarraba magana da kai / ke da Italiyanci?
I was born in Miami: An haifeni a Miami
I speak French but with an accent: Na iya magana sosai da Faransanci
