Azeri Pronouns

This is a list of pronouns in Azeri. This includes subject, object, and the possessive. These are used on a daily basis, so don't skip this lesson. We start with the object pronouns such as "I, you, her ..."

I: mən
You: sən
He: o (kişi cinsi)
She: o (qadın cinsi)
We: biz
You (pl.): siz
They: onlar

Here are samples to demonstrate how the object pronoun is used in a sentence.

I love you: Mən səni sevirəm
She is beautiful: O gözəldir
We are happy: Biz xoşbəxtik
They are dancing: Onlar rəqs edirlər

Now we look into the subject pronoun such as "me, him, us, them ...".

Me: məni; mənə
You: səni; sənə
Him: onu; ona (kişi cinsi)
Her: onu; ona (qadın cinsi)
Us: bizi; bizə
You (pl.): sizi; sizə
Them: onları; onlara

These are examples to demonstrate how the subject pronoun is used in a sentence.

Give me your phone number: Telefon nömrənizi (nömrəni) mənə verin (ver)
I can give you my email: Sizə (Sənə) elektron poçt ünvanımı deyə bilərəm
Tell him to call me: Ona deyin ki, mənə zəng etsin
Can you call us?: Bizə zəng edə bilərsiniz? (bilərsən?)

We reach now the possessive adjective part, used to refer to thing we possess. Examples: "my, our, their ...".

My: mənim
Your: sənin
His: onun
Her: onun
Our: bizim
Your (pl.): sizin
Their: onların

Here are samples to demonstrate how the possessive adjective is used.

My phone number is . . .: Mənim telefon nömrəm -dır / -dir / -dur / -dür
His email is . . .: Onun elektron poçtunun ünvanı -dır / -dir / -dur / -dür
Our dream is to visit Spain: Onun arzusu İspaniyaya getməkdir
Their country is beautiful: Onların ölkəsi gözəldir

This is the possessive pronoun. Used as an alternative to the possessive adjectives above. Instead of saying "It is my dog" you can say "It is mine".

Mine: mənimki
Yours: səninki
His: onunku
Hers: onunku
Ours: bizimki
Yours (pl.): sizinki
Theirs: onlarınkı

These are some examples of the possessive pronoun in a sentence.

The book is mine: Kitab mənimdir
Is this pen yours?: Bu qələm sizindir?
The shoes are hers: Ayaqqabılar onundur
Victory is ours: Qələbə bizimdir
