This is a lesson about negation in Malayalam. This includes words or expressions used to form a negative form as opposted to the affirmative. For example "I don't understand".
| No: ഇല്ല illa |
Nothing: ഒന്നുമില്ല onnumilla |
Not yet: ഇതുവരെ ഇല്ല ituvare illa |
No one: ആരും āruṁ |
| No longer: ഇനിയില്ല iniyilla |
Never: ഒരിക്കലുമില്ല orikkalumilla |
Cannot: കഴിയില്ല kaḻiyilla |
Should not: പാടില്ല pāṭilla |
The below examples demonstrate how to use the negation form in a sentence. Don't be shy to use of these expressions if you don't know something.
| We don't understand: ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് മനസിലാകുന്നില്ല ñaṅṅaൾkk manasilākunnilla |
I do not speak Japanese: ഞാൻ ജാപ്പനീസ് സംസാരിക്കില്ല ñāൻ jāppanīs sansārikkilla |
| I cannot remember the word: എനിക്ക് ആ വാക്ക് ഓർമ്മിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല enikk ā vākk ōർm'mikkāൻ kaḻiyunnilla |
You should not forget this word: നീ ഈ വാക്ക് മറക്കാൻ പാടില്ല nī ī vākk maṟakkāൻ pāṭilla |
| No problem!: സാരമില്ല sāramilla |
I don't know!: എനിക്ക് അറിയില്ല enikk aṟiyilla |
| I'm not interested!: എനിക്ക് താല്പര്യമില്ല enikk tālparyamilla |
Don't worry!: വിഷമിക്കേണ്ട viṣamikkēṇṭa |
| This is wrong: ഇത് തെറ്റാണ് it teṟṟāṇ |
This is not correct: ഇത് ശരിയല്ല it śariyalla |
| No one here speaks Greek: ഇവിടെ ആരും ഗ്രീക്ക് സംസാരിക്കില്ല iviṭe āruṁ grīkk sansārikkilla |
