These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Malayalam. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Can you show me?: എനിക്ക് കാണിച്ചു തരുമോ ? enikk kāṇiccu tarumēā ? |
I'm lost: എനിക്ക് വഴി തെറ്റി enikk vaḻi teṟṟi |
I'm not from here: ഞാൻ ഇവിടുത്തുകാരൻ അല്ല ñāൻ iviṭuttukāraൻ alla |
Can I help you?: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്കട്ടെ ? ñāൻ niṅṅaḷe sahāyikkaṭṭe ? |
Can you help me?: നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ സഹായിക്കുമോ ? niṅṅaൾ enne sahāyikkumēā ? |
It's near here: അത് ഇവിടെ അടുത്താണ് at iviṭe aṭuttāṇ |
It's far from here: അത് ഇവിടെ നിന്നും അകലെയാണ് at iviṭe ninnuṁ akaleyāṇ |
Go straight: നേരെ പോവുക nēre pēāvuka |
Turn left: ഇടത്തോട്ടു തിരിയുക iṭattēāṭṭu tiriyuka |
Turn right: വലത്തോട്ടു തിരിയുക valattēāṭṭu tiriyuka |
One moment please!: ഒരു നിമിഷം. . oru nimiṣaṁ. . |
Come with me!: എന്റെ കൂടെ വരൂ enṟe kūṭe varū |
How can I get to the museum? : കാഴ്ചബംഗ്ലാവിലേക്ക് എങ്ങനെയാണ് എത്തുക ? kāḻcabaṅglāvilēkk eṅṅaneyāṇ ettuka ? |
How long does it take to get there?: അവിടെ എത്താൻ എത്ര സമയമെടുക്കും ? aviṭe ettāൻ etra samayameṭukkuṁ ? |
Downtown (city center): നഗരമധ്യത്തിൽ nagaramadhyattiൽ |
The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.
Near: അരികെ arike |
Far: അകലെ akale |
Right: വലത്ത് valatt |
Left: ഇടത്ത് iṭatt |
Straight: നേരെ nēre |
There: അവിടെ aviṭe |
Here: ഇവിടെ iviṭe |
To walk: നടക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി naṭakkāൻ vēṇṭi |
To drive: |
To turn: തിരിയാൻ വേണ്ടി tiriyāൻ vēṇṭi |
