Inside: உள்ளே uḷḷē |
Outside: வெளியே veḷiyē |
| Behind: பின்னால் piṉṉāl |
In front of: முன்னால் muṉṉāl |
Near: பக்கம் / அருகில் pakkam/ arukil |
Between: இடையே iṭaiyē |
These are more popular prepositions you might find useful at some point or another.
| After: பின்பு / பிறகு piṉpu/ piṟaku |
Before: முன்பு muṉpu |
With: உடன் uṭaṉ |
Without: இல்லாமல் illāmal |
| Since: ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட காலம் முதல் oru kuṟippiṭṭa kālam mutal |
Until: வரை varai |
Of: இல் / இன் / உடைய il/ iṉ/ uṭaiya |
From: இருந்து iruntu |
| To: வரை varai |
Instead of: பதிலாக patilāka |

Against: எதிராக etirāka |
| As: ..படி / மாதிரி ..Paṭi/ mātiri |
About: பற்றி (குறித்து) paṟṟi (kuṟittu) |
For: பொருட்டு poruṭṭu |
The following are conjunctions used to connect words, sentences, or phrases.
| And: மற்றும் maṟṟum |
Or: அல்லது allatu |
But: ஆனால் āṉāl |
So: எனவே / ஆகவே eṉavē/ ākavē |
Now is the time for some prepositions used in a sentence. We are using the following: (from, under, inside, with, in, but) as examples.
| I'm from Japan: நான் ஜப்பானிலிருந்து வருகிறேன் nāṉ jappāṉiliruntu varukiṟēṉ |
The pen is under the desk: சாய்வு மேஜைக்கு கீழே பேனா இருக்கிறது cāyvu mējaikku kīḻē pēṉā irukkiṟatu |
| The letter is inside the book: புத்தகத்திற்குள் கடிதம் உள்ளது puttakattiṟkuḷ kaṭitam uḷḷatu |
Can I practice Italian with you?: இத்தாலிய மொழியை உன்னுடன் நான் பயிற்சி செய்ய முடியுமா? ittāliya moḻiyai uṉṉuṭaṉ nāṉ payiṟci ceyya muṭiyumā? |
| I was born in Miami: மியாமியில் நான் பிறந்தேன் Miyāmiyil nāṉ piṟantēṉ |
I speak French but with an accent: நான் ஃபிரெஞ்சு மொழியை அதன் உச்சரிப்புடன் பேசுவேன் nāṉ ḥpireñcu moḻiyai ataṉ uccarippuṭaṉ pēcuvēṉ |
