These samples show how the verbs above are conjugated in the past tense in a sentence which includes all the object pronouns (I, you, she...).

You loved apples: Inti kont tħobb it-tuffieħ |
You gave money: Inti tajt il-flus |
You played tennis: Inti lgħabt t-tennis |
He read (past) a book: Hu qara ktieb |
He understood me: Hu fehemni |
She had a cat: Hi kellha qattus (M), Hi kellha qattusa (F) |
She knew my friend: Hi kienet taf lill-ħabib tiegħi (M), Hi kienet taf lill-ħabiba tiegħi (F) |
We wanted to learn: Aħna ridna nitgħallmu |
We thought Spanish is easy: Aħna ħsibna li l-Ispanjol huwa ħafif |
You (plural) worked here: Intom ħdimtu hawn |
You (plural) spoke French: Intom tkellimtu bil-Franċiż |
They drove a car: Huma saqu karozza |
They smiled: Huma tbissmu |
