Maltese Directions

These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Maltese. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Excuse me! (to ask someone): Skużani!
Can you show me?: Tista' turini?
I'm lost: Intlift
I'm not from here: Jien mhux minn hawn
Can I help you?: Nista' ngħinek?
Can you help me?: Tista' tgħini?
It's near here: Huwa qrib t'hawnhekk
It's far from here: Huwa 'il bogħod minn hawn
Go straight: Ibqa sejjer dritt
Turn left: Dur fuq ix-xellug
Turn right: Dur fuq il-lemin
One moment please!: Mument, jekk jogħġbok!
Come with me!: Ejja miegħi!
How can I get to the museum? : Kif nista' nasal il-mużew?
How long does it take to get there?: Kemm iddum biex tasal hemm?
Downtown (city center): Iċ-ċentru tal-belt

The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.

Near: Qrib
Far: Bogħod
Right: Lemin
Left: Xellug
Straight: Dritt
There: Hemm
Here: Hawn
To walk: Mexa'
To drive: Saq
To turn: Dar
Traffic light: Dawl tat-traffiku
