Romanian Pronouns

This is a list of pronouns in Romanian. This includes subject, object, and the possessive. These are used on a daily basis, so don't skip this lesson. We start with the object pronouns such as "I, you, her ..."

I: eu
You: tu
He: el
She: ea
We: noi
You (pl.): voi
They: ei / ele

Here are samples to demonstrate how the object pronoun is used in a sentence.

I love you: Te iubesc
She is beautiful: Ea este frumoasa
We are happy: Noi suntem fericiti
They are dancing: Ei danseaza

Now we look into the subject pronoun such as "me, him, us, them ...".

Me: pe mine / mie / îmi / -mi
You: pe tine / ţie / îţi / -ţi
Him: pe el / lui / îi / i-
Her: pe ea / ei / îi / i-
Us: pe noi / ne / nouă / -ne
You (pl.): pe voi / va / voua / v-
Them: pe ei / pe ele / le / l-

These are examples to demonstrate how the subject pronoun is used in a sentence.

Give me your phone number: Da-mi numarul tau de telefon
I can give you my email: Iti pot da adresa mea de email
Tell him to call me: Spune-i sa ma sune
Can you call us?: Ne puteti suna?

We reach now the possessive adjective part, used to refer to thing we possess. Examples: "my, our, their ...".

My: meu / mea
Your: tău / ta
His: lui
Her: ei
Our: nostru / noastră / noştri / noastre
Your (pl.): vostru / voastra / vostri / voastre
Their: lor

Here are samples to demonstrate how the possessive adjective is used.

My phone number is . . .: Numarul meu de telefon este...
His email is . . .: Adresa lui de email este...
Our dream is to visit Spain: Visul nostru este sa vizitam Spania
Their country is beautiful: Tara lor este frumoasa

This is the possessive pronoun. Used as an alternative to the possessive adjectives above. Instead of saying "It is my dog" you can say "It is mine".

Mine: a mea
Yours: a ta
His: a lui
Hers: a ei
Ours: al nostru
Yours (pl.): al vostru
Theirs: al lor

These are some examples of the possessive pronoun in a sentence.

The book is mine: Cartea este a mea
Is this pen yours?: Acest stilou este al tau?
The shoes are hers: Pantofii sunt ai ei
Victory is ours: Victoria este a noastra
