Gaelic Directions

These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Gaelic. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Excuse me! (to ask someone): Gabh mo leisgeul!
Can you show me?: Am faod thu gam shealladh?
I'm lost: Tha mi air chall.
I'm not from here: Chan eil mi às an-seo.
Can I help you?: Am faod mi gad chuideachadh?
Can you help me?: Am faod thu gam chuideachadh?
It's near here: Tha e faisg air an-seo.
It's far from here: Tha e fada bhon an-seo.
Go straight: Rach dìreach.
Turn left: Gabh an car clì.
Turn right: Gabh an car ceart.
One moment please!: Mionaid, mas e do toil leat!
Come with me!: Thig còmhla rium!
How can I get to the museum? : Càite a bheil an taigh-tasgaidh?
How long does it take to get there?: Dè cho fada a tha e?

The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.

Near: faisg
Far: fada
Right: ceart
Left: clì
Straight: dìreach
There: an-sin; an-siud
Here: an-seo
To walk: coisich
To drive: dràibh
To turn: tionndaich
Traffic light: solas-trafaig
