Portuguese Directions

These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Portuguese. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Excuse me! (to ask someone): Desculpe!
Can you show me?: Pode indicar-me / indicar-nos?
I'm lost: Estou perdido(a)
I'm not from here: Não sou de cá
Can I help you?: Posso ajudá-lo(a)?
Can you help me?: Pode ajudar-me? (PT) / Você pode me ajudar? (BR)
It's near here: É perto daqui
It's far from here: É longe daqui
Go straight: Siga(m) em frente
Turn left: Vire(m) à esquerda
Turn right: Vire(m) à direita
One moment please!: Um momento, por favor!
Come with me!: Venha(m) comigo!
How can I get to the museum? : Como é que se vai para o museu?
How long does it take to get there?: Quanto tempo leva a chegar lá?
Downtown (city center): Baixa (centro da cidade)

The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.

Near: Perto
Far: Longe
Right: Direita
Left: Esquerda
Straight: Em frente
There: Lá / Ali
Here: Cá / Aqui
To walk: Andar
To drive: Conduzir
To turn: Virar
Traffic light: Semáforo
