This is a list of verbs in the past tense in Nepali. First let's start with the raw format before conjugating the verbs to the past form. Make sure to compare this table and the one below it.
To see: हेर्नु hērnu |
To write: लेख्नु lēkhnu |
To love: माया गर्नु māyā garnu |
To give: िदनु ̔idanu |
To play: खेल्नु khēlnu |
To read: पदनु padanu |
To understand: बुज्नु bujnu |
To have: खानु khānu |
To know: बुज्नु bujnu |
To learn: िसक्नु ̔isaknu |
To think: सोच्नु sōcnu |
To work: काम गर्नु kāma garnu |
To speak: बोल्नु bōlnu |
To drive: हाक्नु hāknu |
To smile: हास्नु hāsnu |
To find: खोज्नु khōjnu |
These samples show how the verbs above are conjugated in the past tense in a sentence which includes all the object pronouns (I, you, she...).
I saw you: मैले ितमीलाई देख्ए। Mailē ̔itamīlā'ī dēkhē. |
I wrote with a pen: मैले कलमले लेख्थे। Mailē kalamalē lēkhthē. |
You loved apples: उसलाई स्याऊ मन पर्थ्यो। Usalā'ī syā'ū mana parthyō. |
You gave money: ितमी पैसा ढिनथियो ̔Itamī paisā ḍhinathiyō |
You played tennis: ऊ टेिनस खेल्थ्यो ū ṭēinasa khēlthyō |
He read (past) a book: उसले िकताब पढ्थ्यो। usalē ̔ikatāba paḍhthyō. |
He understood me: उसले मलाई बुज्दथ्यो। Usalē malā'ī bujdathyō. |
She had a cat: उनीले िबरालो पालेिक थिईन्। Unīlē ̔ibarālō pālēika thi'īn. |
She knew my friend: उनीले मेरो साथीलाई िचन्थौ। Unīlē mērō sāthīlā'ī ̔icanthau. |
We wanted to learn: हामीहरू िसकन् चाहान्थौ। Hāmīharū ̔isakan cāhānthau. |
We thought Spanish is easy: हामीले स्पेन भाषा सजिलो होला भनी सम्जेको थिए। Hāmīlē spēna bhāṣā sajilō hōlā bhanī samjēkō thi'ē. |
You (plural) worked here: ऊनीहरू यँहा काम गर्थ्यो। Ūnīharū yam̐hā kāma garthyō. |
You (plural) spoke French: ऊनीहरुफेन्च भाषा बोल्थ्यो। Ūnīharuphēnca bhāṣā bōlthyō. |
They drove a car: ऊनीहरूले गाढी चलाउथ्यो। Ūnīharūlē gāḍhī calā'uthyō. |
They smiled: ऊनीहरू हास्थ्यो। Ūnīharū hāsthyō. |
