These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Nepali. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.
Excuse me! (to ask someone): सुन्नुस् त! sunnus ta! |
Can you show me?: मलाई देखाऊ। Malā'ī dēkhā'ū. |
I'm lost: म हराएँ Ma harā'ēm̐ |
I'm not from here: म यँहाको होईन। ma yam̐hākō hō'īna. |
Can I help you?: म मद्दत गरू? Ma maddata garū? |
Can you help me?: मलाई मद्दत गर्न सक्छौ? Malā'ī maddata garna sakchau? |
It's near here: यँहाबाट नजिक छ Yam̐hābāṭa najika cha |
It's far from here: यँहाबाट टाडा छ yam̐hābāṭa ṭāḍā cha |
Go straight: सिधा जानुहोस sidhā jānuhōsa |
Turn left: बाया मोड bāyā mōḍa |
Turn right: ढाया मोड ḍhāyā mōḍa |
One moment please!: एक िछन् ल! ēka ̔ichan la! |
Come with me!: म सँग अाऊ। Ma sam̐ga a̔ā'ū. |
How can I get to the museum? : यँहा बाट संग्रहालय कसरी जान्ने हो? Yam̐hā bāṭa saṅgrahālaya kasarī jānnē hō? |
How long does it take to get there?: तँहा पुग्न कति समय लाग्छ? Tam̐hā pugna kati samaya lāgcha? |
Downtown (city center): शहर Śahara |
The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.
Near: नजिक najika |
Far: टाडा ṭāḍā |
Right: दाया dāyā |
Left: बाया bāyā |
Straight: िसधा ̔isadhā |
There: त्यहाँ tyahām̐ |
Here: यहाँ yahām̐ |
To walk: हि्दनु hidanu |
To drive: हाक्नु hāknu |
To turn: बाल्नु bālnu |
Traffic light: ट्रफ्रिक बत्ति ṭraphrika batti |
