Hebrew Directions

These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Hebrew. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Excuse me! (to ask someone): סלח לי
Slakh li
Can you show me?: את / ה יכול להראות לי / להסביר לי
Ata / at yakhol le'harot li / le'asbir li?
I'm lost: הלכתי לאיבוד
Halakhti le-ibud
I'm not from here: אני לא מכאן
Ani lo mi-kan
Can I help you?: ?אפשר לעזור לך
Efshar laazor lekha / lakh
Can you help me?: ?את / ה יכול לעזור לי
Ata / at yakhol / yekhola laazor li?
It's near here: זה קרוב לכאן
Ze karov le-can
It's far from here: זה רחוק מכאן
Ze rakhok mi-can
Go straight: ללכת ישר
Lalekhet iashar
Turn left: פנה / פני שמאלה
Pneh / pni smolah
Turn right: פנה / פני ימינה
Pneh / pni yamina
One moment please!: רק רגע
Rak rega
Come with me!: בוא / י אתי
Bo / bo'ee iti
How can I get to the museum? : ?איך אני יכול / ה להגיע למוזיאון
Aeih ani yakhol / yekhola leag'ia' le-muzeon?
How long does it take to get there?: ?כמה זמן זה יקח להגיע
Kama zman ze ykakh leag'ia'?
Downtown (city center): לעיר / למרכז העיר
La'ir / le-merkaz ha-ir

The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.

Near: קרוב
Karov
Far: רחוק
Rakhok
Right: ימין
Yamin
Left: שמאל
Smol
Straight: ישר
Iashar
There: שם
Sham
Here: כאן
Can
To walk: ללכת ברגל
Lalekhet ba-reg'el
To drive: לנהוג / לנסוע
Linhog / linso'a
To turn: לפנות
Lifnot
Traffic light: רמזור
Ramzor
