Yoruba Colors

This is a list of colors in Yoruba. This will help you find ways to describe the colors of clothes, objects and much more.

Black: Dúdú
Blue: Àwọ̀ Ojú Ọ̀run
Brown: Àwọ̀ igi
Gray: Àwọ̀ Eérú
Green: Àwọ̀ Ewé
Orange: Àwọ̀ Òféfèé
Red: pupa
White: funfun
Yellow: pupa rusurusu
Dark color: Àwọ̀ dúdú
Light color: Àwọ̀ tí ó mọ́lẹ̀
Colors: Àwọn àwọ̀

These examples show how colors are used in Yoruba. This is a good way to demonstrate how adjectives (colors) are used with nouns and verbs.

The sky is blue: Ojú sánmà dúdú díẹ̀
Your cat is white: Ológbò rẹ funfun
Black is his favorite color: Àwọ̀ dúdú ní ó yàn láàyò
Red is not his favorite color: Àwọ̀ pupa kì íṣe èyí tí ó yàn láàyò
She drives a yellow car: Ó nwà ọkọ̀ ayọ́kẹ́lẹ́ aláwọ̀ rẹ́sùrẹ́sú
I have black hair: Mo ní irun dúdú
