Spanish Pronouns

This is a list of pronouns in Spanish. This includes subject, object, and the possessive. These are used on a daily basis, so don't skip this lesson. We start with the object pronouns such as "I, you, her ..."

I: yo
You: tu / usted
He: él
She: ella
We: nosotros
You (pl.): vosotros / ustedes
They: ellos

Here are samples to demonstrate how the object pronoun is used in a sentence.

I love you: Te amo / te quiero
She is beautiful: Ella es guapa / hermosa / bella
We are happy: Somos felices
They are dancing: Están bailando

Now we look into the subject pronoun such as "me, him, us, them ...".

Me: yo
You: te
Him: le (él)
Her: le (ella)
Us: nos
You (pl.): les
Them: los

These are examples to demonstrate how the subject pronoun is used in a sentence.

Give me your phone number: Dame tu número de teléfono.
I can give you my email: Te puedo dar mi Email
Tell him to call me: ¡Dile que me llame!
Can you call us?: ¿Puedes llamarnos?

We reach now the possessive adjective part, used to refer to thing we possess. Examples: "my, our, their ...".

My: mi
Your: tu
His: su (él)
Her: su (ella)
Our: nuestro
Your (pl.): vuestro
Their: su (ellos)

Here are samples to demonstrate how the possessive adjective is used.

My phone number is . . .: Mi número de teléfono es
His email is . . .: Su correo electrónico es
Our dream is to visit Spain: Soñamos con visitar España
Their country is beautiful: Su país es muy bello

This is the possessive pronoun. Used as an alternative to the possessive adjectives above. Instead of saying "It is my dog" you can say "It is mine".

Mine: mio
Yours: tuyo
His: suyo (de él)
Hers: suyo (de ella)
Ours: nuestro
Yours (pl.): vuestro
Theirs: suyo (de ellos / ellas)

These are some examples of the possessive pronoun in a sentence.

The book is mine: El libro es mío
Is this pen yours?: Es tuyo este bolígrafo?
The shoes are hers: Los zapatos son suyas
Victory is ours: La victoria es nuestra
