Greek Pronouns

This is a list of pronouns in Greek. This includes subject, object, and the possessive. These are used on a daily basis, so don't skip this lesson. We start with the object pronouns such as "I, you, her ..."

Here are samples to demonstrate how the object pronoun is used in a sentence.

I love you: Σε αγαπάω
Se agapáo̱
She is beautiful: Είναι όμορφη
Eínai ómorfi̱
We are happy: Είμαστε χαρούμενοι
Eímaste charoúmenoi
They are dancing: Χορεύουν
Chorév̱oun

Now we look into the subject pronoun such as "me, him, us, them ...".

Me: εμένα / μου
eména / mou
You: εσένα / σου
eséna / sou
Him: αυτόν / τον
af̱tón / ton
Her: αυτήν / την
af̱tí̱n / ti̱n
Us: εμάς / μας
emás / mas
You (pl.): εσάς / σας

These are examples to demonstrate how the subject pronoun is used in a sentence.

Give me your phone number: Δώσε μου το τηλέφωνό σου
Dó̱se mou to ti̱léfo̱nó sou
I can give you my email: Μπορώ να σου δώσω την ηλεκτρονική μου διεύθυνση
Boró̱ na sou dó̱so̱ ti̱n i̱lektronikí̱ mou diéf̱thynsi̱
Tell him to call me: Πες του να με πάρει τηλέφωνο
Pes tou na me párei ti̱léfo̱no
Can you call us?: Μπορείτε να μας καλέσετε; / Μπορείτε να μας πάρετε τηλέφωνο;
Boreíte na mas kalésete? / Boreíte na mas párete ti̱léfo̱no?

We reach now the possessive adjective part, used to refer to thing we possess. Examples: "my, our, their ...".

My: μου
mou
Your: σου
sou
His: του
tou
Her: της
ti̱s
Our: μας
mas
Your (pl.): σας
sas
Their: τους
tous

Here are samples to demonstrate how the possessive adjective is used.

My phone number is . . .: Το τηλέφωνό μου είναι ...
To ti̱léfo̱nó mou eínai ...
His email is . . .: Η ηλεκτρονική του διεύθυνση είναι...
I̱ i̱lektronikí̱ tou diéf̱thynsi̱ eínai...
Our dream is to visit Spain: Το όνειρό μας είναι να επισκεφθούμε την Ισπανία
To óneiró mas eínai na episkefthoúme ti̱n Ispanía
Their country is beautiful: Η χώρα τους είναι όμορφη
I̱ chó̱ra tous eínai ómorfi̱

This is the possessive pronoun. Used as an alternative to the possessive adjectives above. Instead of saying "It is my dog" you can say "It is mine".

Mine: δικό μου
dikó mou
Yours: δικό σου
dikó sou
His: δικό του
dikó tou
Hers: δικό της
dikó ti̱s
Ours: δικό μας
dikó mas
Yours (pl.): δικό σας
dikó sas
Theirs: δικό τους
dikó tous

These are some examples of the possessive pronoun in a sentence.

The book is mine: Το βιβλίο είναι δικό μου
To vivlío eínai dikó mou
Is this pen yours?: Δικό σου είναι αυτό το στυλό;
Dikó sou eínai af̱tó to styló?
The shoes are hers: Τα παπούτσια είναι δικά της
Ta papoútsia eínai diká ti̱s
Victory is ours: Η νίκη είναι δική μας
I̱ níki̱ eínai dikí̱ mas
