Galician Directions

These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Galician. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.

Excuse me! (to ask someone): perdoe (polite) / perdoa (informal)
Can you show me?: pode mostrame? (polite) / podes mostrarme? (informal)
I'm lost: estou perdido
I'm not from here: non son de aquí
Can I help you?: podo axudarte? (informal) / podo axudarlle? (polite)
Can you help me?: podes axudarme?(informal) / pode xudarme?(polite)
It's near here: está preto de aquí
It's far from here: está lonxe de aquí
Go straight: segue (informal) / siga(polite) todo recto
Turn left: xira (informal) / xire (polite) á esquerda
Turn right: xira (informal) / xire (polite) á dereita
One moment please!: un momento por favor!
Come with me!: ven (informal) / veña (polite)comigo
How can I get to the museum? : cómo podo chegar ata o museo?
How long does it take to get there?: canto se tarda en chegar alí?
Downtown (city center): centro da cidade

The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.

Near: preto
Far: lonxe
Right: dereita
Left: esquerda
Straight: recto
There: alí
Here: aquí
To walk: camiñar
To drive: conducir
To turn: xirar
Traffic light: semáforo
