Esperanto Pronouns

This is a list of pronouns in Esperanto. This includes subject, object, and the possessive. These are used on a daily basis, so don't skip this lesson. We start with the object pronouns such as "I, you, her ..."

I: mi
You: vi
He: li
She: ŝi
We: ni
You (pl.): Vi
They: ili

Here are samples to demonstrate how the object pronoun is used in a sentence.

I love you: Mi amas vin
She is beautiful: Sxi estas bela
We are happy: Ni estas felicxaj
They are dancing: Ili dancas

Now we look into the subject pronoun such as "me, him, us, them ...".

Me: mi, min
You: vi, vin
Him: li, lin
Her: ŝi, ŝin
Us: ni, nin
You (pl.): vi
Them: ili, ilin

These are examples to demonstrate how the subject pronoun is used in a sentence.

Give me your phone number: Donu al mi vian telefonnumeron
I can give you my email: Mi povas doni al vi mian retmesaĝadreson
Tell him to call me: Diru al li altelefoni min
Can you call us?: Ĉu vi povas altelefoni nin

We reach now the possessive adjective part, used to refer to thing we possess. Examples: "my, our, their ...".

My: mia
Your: via
His: lia
Her: ŝia
Our: nia
Your (pl.): via
Their: ilia

Here are samples to demonstrate how the possessive adjective is used.

My phone number is . . .: Mia telefonnumero estas ...
His email is . . .: Lia retmesaĝ-adreso estas ...
Our dream is to visit Spain: Nia revo estas viziti Hispanion
Their country is beautiful: Ilia lando estas bela

This is the possessive pronoun. Used as an alternative to the possessive adjectives above. Instead of saying "It is my dog" you can say "It is mine".

Mine: mia
Yours: via
His: lia
Hers: ŝia
Ours: nia
Yours (pl.): via
Theirs: ilia

These are some examples of the possessive pronoun in a sentence.

The book is mine: La libro estas mia
Is this pen yours?: Ĉu ĉi tiu plumo estas via?
The shoes are hers: La ŝuoj estas ŝiaj
Victory is ours: La venko estas nia
