This is a lesson about negation in Cantonese. This includes words or expressions used to form a negative form as opposted to the affirmative. For example "I don't understand".
No: 唔喺 wú xì |
Nothing: 無嘢 wú yě |
Not yet: 未得 wèi dé |
No one: 無人 wúrén |
No longer: 唔再係 wú zài xì |
Never: 永不 yǒng bù |
Cannot: 唔得 wú dé |
Should not: 唔應該 wú yīnggāi |
The below examples demonstrate how to use the negation form in a sentence. Don't be shy to use of these expressions if you don't know something.
We don't understand: 我哋唔明 wǒ diè wú míng |
I do not speak Japanese: 我唔識講日文 wǒ wú shí jiǎng rìwén |
I cannot remember the word: 我記唔起嗰個字 wǒ jì wú qǐ gè gè zì |
You should not forget this word: 你唔應該唔記得呢個字 nǐ wú yīnggāi wú jìdé ne gè zì |
No problem!: 無問題! wú wèntí! |
I don't know!: 我唔知! Wǒ wú zhī! |
I'm not interested!: 我無興趣! Wǒ wú xìngqù! |
Don't worry!: 唔好擔心! Wú hǎo dānxīn! |
This is wrong: 呢個喺錯嘅 Ne gè xì cuò kǎi |
This is not correct: 呢個唔啱 ne gè wú yān |
No one here speaks Greek: 呢度無人識講希臘話 ne dù wúrén shí jiǎng xīlà huà |
I'm not fluent in Italian yet: 我意大利文未係好流利 wǒ yìdàlì wén wèi xì hǎo liúlì |
