These are expressions used when giving or getting directions in Cantonese. Very useful when trying to find your way around or when lost.
Excuse me! (to ask someone): 唔好意思 wú hǎoyìsi |
Can you show me?: 你可唔可以指示俾我睇 nǐ kě wú kěyǐ zhǐshì bǐ wǒ dì |
I'm lost: 我蕩失咗路 wǒ dàng shī zuo lù |
I'm not from here: 我唔係本地人 wǒ wú xì běndì rén |
Can I help you?: 我有咩可以幫你? wǒ yǒu miē kěyǐ bāng nǐ? |
Can you help me?: 你可唔可以幫我? Nǐ kě wú kěyǐ bāng wǒ? |
It's near here: 就係附近 Jiù xì fùjìn |
It's far from here: 離呢度好遠 lí ne dù hǎo yuǎn |
Go straight: 向前行 xiàng qián xíng |
Turn left: 轉左 zhuǎn zuǒ |
Turn right: 轉右 zhuǎn yòu |
One moment please!: 等一陣 děng yīzhèn |
Come with me!: 跟我嚟 gēn wǒ lí |
How can I get to the museum? : 點樣去博物館? diǎn yàng qù bówùguǎn? |
How long does it take to get there?: 去嗰度要幾耐? Qù gè dù yào jǐ nài? |
Downtown (city center): 市中心 Shì zhōngxīn |
The following are words which might be used alone or in combination with other words to ask or give directions.
Near: 近 jìn |
Far: 遠 yuǎn |
Right: 右 yòu |
Left: 左 zuǒ |
Straight: 直行 zhíxíng |
There: 嗰度 gè dù |
Here: 呢度 ne dù |
To walk: 行路 xínglù |
To drive: 揸車 zhā chē |
To turn: 轉 zhuǎn |
Traffic light: 交通燈 jiāotōng dēng |
