Basque Past

This is a list of verbs in the past tense in Basque. First let's start with the raw format before conjugating the verbs to the past form. Make sure to compare this table and the one below it.

To see: Ikusi.
To write: Idatzi.
To love: Maitatu.
To give: Eman.
To play: Jolastu.
To read: Irakurri.
To understand: Ulertu.
To have: Eduki.
To know: Jakin.
To learn: Ikasi.
To think: Pentsatu.
To work: Lan egin.
To speak: Hitz egin.
To drive: Gidatu.
To smile: Irribarre egin.
To find: Topatu / aurkitu.

These samples show how the verbs above are conjugated in the past tense in a sentence which includes all the object pronouns (I, you, she...).

I saw you: Ikusi zintudan.
I wrote with a pen: Boligrafoarekin idatzi nuen.
You loved apples: Sagarrak maite zenituen.
You gave money: Dirua eman zenuen.
You played tennis: Tenisean jokatu zenuen.
He read (past) a book: Berak liburua irakurri zuen.
He understood me: Berak ulertu ninduen.
She had a cat: Berak katua zeukan / zuen.
She knew my friend: Nire laguna ezagutzen zuen.
We wanted to learn: Ikastea nahi genuen.
We thought Spanish is easy: Espainola erreza zela uste genuen.
You (plural) worked here: Zuek hemen egin zenuten lan.
You (plural) spoke French: Zuek frantsesez hitz egiten zenuten.
They drove a car: Eurak kotxea gidatu zuten.
They smiled: Eurak barre egin.
